“Reunion”
Nero Marquina Marble - 28x48x80cm
Reunion is an abstract study of time, distance, and the gravity of shared history. Carved from deep black marble, the sculpture features two distinct ribbons of stone that wind and twist independently of one another.
The form traces the parallel journeys of two individuals who first met in college, only to have their paths diverge for many years. These ribbons represent the separate lives lived and the vast space between them during their time apart. Eventually, the curves of the marble draw back together, intertwining to symbolize their meeting later in life and their decision to marry.
The composition concludes with the two forms together in the end, yet remaining independent—reflecting a partnership where two people share a life while honoring the unique individuals they became during their years apart. By using the weighted elegance of black marble, the work emphasizes that some connections are written into the stone of our lives long before they are fully realized.
