Sue is a study of serenity and light. This bust captures my wife in a rare, quiet moment of stillness—tilted toward a sun-filled window, eyes closed, fully surrendering to the warmth of the light.

In keeping with the central theme of my work, the figure is shown emerging from a rough, unhewn block of stone. This raw base serves as a grounding contrast to the softness of her expression and the delicate rendering of her features. By leaving a portion of the piece unfinished, the sculpture suggests a person still in the process of becoming—defined as much by her surroundings and the light she absorbs as by the material she is carved from.

The work explores the balance between the permanence of stone and the fleeting nature of a sunbeam, immortalizing a private, everyday moment of peace.
