Newman Family

2021

Calacatta Oro - 45x15x25cm

The Newman Family is another installment in the "malleable block" series, continuing the study of family dynamics through abstract, fluid geometry.

At the heart of the composition are Clint and Camille, standing as the central pillars of the home. Their two sons are positioned at Camille’s side, their forms carved to show them leaning in together. While they are clearly part of the family unit, the boys are rendered with a sense of emerging autonomy—touching the center, yet standing slightly independent.

By using these elongated, shifting blocks, the sculpture captures the specific tension of a growing family: the deep, physical connection of brotherhood and the gradual pull toward becoming their own men. The work transforms the heavy permanence of stone into a snapshot of evolving attachment and individual strength.
