Support

Marble

Support is a series of nine marble sculptures that serve as a direct response to the personal pleas found in the Key Messages series. Each piece is meticulously carved to resemble a cardboard placard, yet instead of individual cries for help, they display the essential services that research identifies as most critical to addressing the needs of our unhoused neighbors.

The lettering on these sculptures uses the same formal, tombstone-style carving seen throughout the exhibition. By tying the two sets together through this specific typography, the work suggests that these services—such as stable housing, mental health care, and addiction support—are not just "options," but the fundamental difference between a life preserved and a life lost.

By rendering these vital needs in the weight and permanence of stone, Support transforms a list of social services into a permanent civic mandate. It challenges the community to move beyond temporary charity and toward the lasting, structural foundations required to bring our neighbors home.
