Despair

Bronze - 15x10x45cm

Despair is a somber, vertical study that serves as a companion to the themes of resilience found in my other bronze works. This sculpture features an elongated female figure, her form stretched thin as if worn down by the weight of her experiences.

The posture is one of quiet, heavy introspection; her head is tilted to one side in a gesture of profound reflection or surrender. By stripping away the literal details of the body, the work focuses entirely on the internal gravity of sorrow. The elongation of the bronze suggests a soul that has been pulled to its limits, capturing the moment where strength gives way to the stillness of grief.

The choice of bronze gives the figure a sense of permanent, weathered endurance, suggesting that despair is not just a passing emotion, but a deep, transformative state of being. It stands as a silent monument to the beauty and weight of human vulnerability.
