Chiave di Violino
Bronze
Chiave di Violino is a bronze exploration of how the same form can be completely transformed by a change in medium. While its marble counterpart relies on light and translucency, this bronze casting emphasizes the physical weight and textural contrast of the composition.
The sculpture depicts a treble clef as a wide, flowing ribbon set within a textured frame. I was particularly pleased with the dramatic shift between the "unfinished" look of the cast stone and the smooth, liquid texture of the ribbon and frame. This distinction is brought to life through a specific patina finish, which pulls the eye toward the graceful curves of the musical symbol while grounding it in a rugged, industrial strength.
By moving from stone to bronze, the work shifts from a delicate melody to a bold, resonant statement. It proves that the "voice" of a sculpture is as much about its materiality as its shape, offering a deeper, more grounded perspective on the music that brings people together.
